Ah, the chassis dyno. It is a maker of heroes and a destroyer of egos. This footage is claimed to have come from Greece, a place where they apparently like to hot rod Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions. You don’t have to like the little buggers, but their 2.0L turbocharged four bangers and all wheel drive make them terrors on the strip and in virtually all other surfaces as well. Their engines are time and battle tested as well. That little four holer in the front of this car is extremely stout and will handle gobs of boost, nitrous or whatever you want to throw at it. This being said, there are limits to what some of the other components can handle. Like the head gaskets for example. So the hot rodded Greek Mitsu hits the rollers the driver hits the throttle, and the head gasket, well the head gasket ain’t a fan. This is the automotive equivalent of one of those flowers that clowns wear and shoot water out of.
The way the water comes out, there was some serious boost being shoved through this engine at the point where the gasket failed.
Thanks to Tony for the tip!
Oh, a Mitsubishi exploding. Surprising.
First one I’ve seen where it attacked the camera when it happened, though.
