Flying Drag Car Video: A Huge Wreck at Hub City Dragway

Flying Drag Car Video: A Huge Wreck at Hub City Dragway

If there is a Mississippi state record for skying a drag car, the dude in this video owns it. By a lot. Shot at Hub City Dragway, in Hattiesburg, this video features a bunch of cool door slammer action on the quarter mile strip. Most importantly, it features a huge wreck made far worse by the double armco guardrails that line the track. What would have been bad at a track with concrete walls becomes horrifically spectacular with guardrails.

If you want to cut straight to the sky rocket in flight, fast forward the video to 2:18 and hold on tight. Don’t let the impressive wheelie at the beginning of the lap fool you. This one ends badly!

Thanks to MSD’s Robert Martin for the tip!

Wheelie land- you are doing it wrong. Since when did Bo and Luke Duke start drag racing?

Hubb City has a bad reputation for being a dangerous track to race on. Was a good looking Camaro…. was.

He needs to go to Byron dragstrip for the wheelstand championships in October. He could have taken the top prize in at least 3 catagories, distance, most violent, and most photogenic.

Last time I saw a wreck like that at that track they picked parts of the kid up for hours, He went off the other side and hit the poles holding the scoreboard up, it was ugly. people still race at tracks with aarmco guard rail, that sh** should be banned from every track.

Completely agree re: music. For cars of this caliber, the only music necessary is coming from under the hood. Can the rest.
