Frozen Speed Video: ORSA Weekend Ice Land Speed Racing From Sweden

As we mentioned, we’ll have a big gallery of photos from the ORSA Weekend event held in Sweden last weekend. This is land speed racing on a massive frozen lake in Sweden. Everything from rocket powered sleds to Peterbuilt trucks take to the ice and and attempt to haul frozen ass. This is the northernmost land speed racing venue in the world although it bears a striking resemblance to Bonneville with the white ground and mountains in the backdrop. Folks bundled up in parkas give it away quickly though.

There’s some pretty heavy iron out there! The first few minutes of the video are chock full of really serious cars clawing and screaming for traction on the ice. The couse has a run up and then a 1,000-meter flying timed trap. The average speed in that 1,000-M is what your time slip reads out.

We’ll have more info and hundreds of photos tomorrow. Until then, hit play below to see some really neat video!
