You know that we’re suckers for great in-car drag racing video, especially when it involves the expert operation of a manual transmission equipped race car. This video fits that description to a T as we get to ride shotgun with NHRA competition eliminator racer Matt Harris as he makes a recent quarter mile blast. The car is equipped with a Liberty transmission, just like most of the Pro Stock guys use and Harris rows it like a professional. The shifts are quick and precise and done without so much as thinking about flinching his right foot off the floor.

Competition Eliminator is drag racing’s great wilderness of cool classes and cool cars. Dragsters with tiny single four barrel small blocks, door slammers with huge naturally aspirated engines, altereds with bizarre little four bangers, and then about a half a million other combinations. The entertainment value of Comp can’t be really described to someone who has never seen it. If you are at an event and you have always ditched out of the stands when competition eliminator comes to the line, stay put. So long as you have an announcer worth a damn who can give you a little education on the cars you are looking at, the action is freaking awesome and the noise is even better!
