Some cars have their appropriate roles. A Chevy Cavalier is cheap transportation. A Dodge Caravan is a people-shuttle. A Ford Mustang is a riot control device. And a 1959 Buick that is still running and driving is supposed to be all about late 1950s classs…nevermind the acres of chrome or it’s pain-in-the-ass to polish grille, a ’59 Buick should be a rolling testament to America’s positive outlook, a sign that you were doing well financially but you weren’t so ostentatious that you just picked up a Cadillac. You had restraint.

Eff restraint. Unless you own a paint-mark perfect restoration Buick of this vintage, we strongly urge you to learn about the gigantic wall of torque that Buick’s Nailhead engines are infamous for. Down low, those engines will simply melt the tires to the consistency of warm chocolate and leave stripes so black that you’ll still see them a year from now. Sure, at one point in time that car belonged to someone’s Aunt Gertie, and she drove it maybe five miles a week and kept the plastic seat covers on and yada, yada…whatever. After sixty years on this planet, it’s time to kick it in the guts and have a little bit of fun, don’t you think?
