Golden Triangle Drag Strip, which was located just outside of Beaumont, Texas, has been dead for years. The former air strip is now crossed over by a highway, and serves as the backdrop of a little league field. Peacefully sleeping now, the track was a hotbed of door slammer madness back in the 1960s. This video shows some of the great action that used to happen every week at the track.
This video is extra bitchin’ because it has footage of the Little Red Wagon wheelstander, as well as some of the rare lightweight Super Stock entries from the big three in the mid-1960s. The track was sure rustic, just a wide, long strip of tarmac. There is one quick shot of what looks to be a young boy and his mom looking onto the strip. Kind of an interesting moment in a film filled with cool drag racing snippits.
yeap there was always action there ads would read SATERDAY NIGHT UNDER THE LIGHTS AT GOLDEN TRIANGLE DRAGSTRIP jet cars , wheel standers, street cars and more. IT was a good place to watch or race nothing fancy just a grass roots dragstrip. Lots of good memories there
