Historic Video: Cool Law Enforcement Training Video From the 1970s

I’ve been on a vintage video kick on Youtube recently thanks to a few neat channels that are dedicated to preserving old footage from decades long past. Not all of the videos are automotive-related, but once in a while I find one that I know you BangShifters would appreciate either because it is cool, informative, funny, or a combination of all three.

The video definitely leans towards the cool/funny end of the spectrum rather than informational, that is unless you are part of a 1970s law enforcement reenactment troupe or taking notes for a quick jump back forty years this weekend via your Delorean, and is a bit campy thanks to the music and classic ‘70s voiceover work (“This officer is dead.” line had me cracking up thanks to the delivery).

Either way, I’m digging everything about this video, from the 70’s movie look and feel to the old-school California police uniforms (Those helmets are awesome) and choice of vehicle for both the good guys and the “baddies”.

While the video ends with the good guys (easily) prevailing, it’s a fun glimpse back to a time when gas was cheap, V8s were plentiful, and bank robbery lookouts all vaguely resembled an overweight version of Matthew Mcconaughey from Dazed and Confused.

It’s all because of Craigslist. Gear heads gone bad, knocking over the bank just to get their speed fix on. What a shame.
