A few weeks ago our Southern California division posted a bunch of photos of the Mickey Thompson display at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum. What we didn’t know at the time is that there is a very cool old film that depicts the day at the Bonneville Salt Flats when Thompson ran his Challenger I at 406-and-change mph to become the first American over 400 mph. It’s a shame that he never backed up that record.
