Ever car freak has their kink. Lohnes loves big old trucks, emphasis on old. I’ve got my weird Mopar thing, Chad’s a Camaro guy, and so on and so forth. Well, Jacob Davis…he’s an AMC Hornet man. How does that happen? We aren’t talking like he’s got a thing for an SC/360 or maybe a later Hornet AMX, no…he’s big into the Sportabout wagons, or for that matter just about any kind of AMC Hornet-based machine. The dude’s been beating the stuffing out of his “Green Hornét” wagon for years, but apparently one just wasn’t enough, so he roped his dad into going to Colorado with him to pick up two more. Okay, the two-door coupe is for his dad instead, but either way…

Rolling out of the same yard that Roadkill used to build the Cummins-powered Cadillac, both the two-door and the over-loaded Sportabout X 304 dream machine that Jacob has probably been frothing at the mouth to get. It’s relatively unmolested and looks like it could’ve been parked just down the road from my childhood home. Hell, for all I know, it was. But now it’s going to be flat-towed back to Georgia, with Jacob putting in his work driving the coupe home. In winter. All the way back to Georgia.
