I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying! The Best Christmas Commercial Ever? Chevrolet’s Holiday Ride

I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying! The Best Christmas Commercial Ever? Chevrolet’s Holiday Ride

I’m sure that this commercial is amazing to me for a couple of reasons more than the average gearhead. My late wife Daphne’s car is a 1966 Bel Air, and she loved it like none other, so the similarities to the story in this commercial hit home for sure. But it’s more than that. Over the years, Chevrolet has knocked it out of the park with some pretty special heartfelt commercials, and this is one of them. While other car companies will have commercials showing people getting new cars for Christmas, Chevrolet is showing how an old Impala can be a part of the family, and so important to so many people.

I’ve said for many, many years that the difference between new cars and old isn’t just the technology or the looks, but rather what a new car meant to people who bought them in the 1920s through the 1970s. When you bought a new Chevrolet you took a family photo with it. Not a selfie, but a real family photo. When your family got a new Ford truck, or a new Chrysler station wagon, or a new Camaro, they took a family photo with it. Cars were a part of the family, a source of pride, and something to be cherished.

Watch. And if you don’t understand, then I just can’t help you.

I never suffered your level of loss Chad, so I can only imagine how this made you feel. Thanks for being brave enough to share it with us. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I can relate to this ad as I have my late brother’s urn on my rearview mirror of my Duster, keeping watch over my car and attending car shows and cruises with me. Chad, I know that this ad hit you hard as I remember Daphne’s Impala wagon, and yes, this ad made me cry, and I’m not afraid to admit it.

This ad is more representative of real America than any woke all gay black social justice warrior crap combined. I’m going to go do a burnout in my Chevy truck. You all can get bent if you don’t understand what I just said.

Good tear effect, I have my Dads car ho has passed . To lighten the mood I must add that any time I owned a Chevy its reliability made me cry as well, lol!

My father’s pride and joy was the same 66 in a hardtop (and a 283 instead of a 396). Welled up half way through.
