Video: JPC Racing Makes 800hp on the Rollers With an Internally Stock (New) 5.0L Mustang

The name Justin Burcham of JPC racing is no stranger to the pages of car magazines or the internet. Justin has been on the bleeding edge of Ford and Mustang performance for years. We remember him on Drag Week 2005 with one of the first “retro” Mustangs we had ever seen. We also remember him blowing every part of that thing to shreds during the week but soldiering on. Nothing blows up in this video, instead we see an internally stock 5.0L Ford 3-Valve motor crank out 800hp on the dyno.

Our man on the inside of Justin’s shop is Mike Galimi. Mike has been in the Mustang scene as long as it has existed and he told us that the car is running a Paxton Novi 2200 blower that cranks 12 lbs of boost, a six-speed Tremec transmission, long tube headers, and a custom tune to keep the whole deal together.

This pull seems to indicate that the “new” 5.0 motor is capable of handling upwards of 800hp on stock internals. That’s about 300hp more than the old pushrod motors that used to saw themselves in half at the 500hp mark. Even cooler? Galimi and Burcham drove this car to lunch when he was at the shop last week.

Crank up the boost and show us four figures….or total destruction. We’re good either way!
