Late Night In The Shop: Working On A King Of The Street Build At Firepunk Diesel

You know how it goes: you got off of work, went home, grabbed a bite to eat and spent a few minutes with the family, then headed into the shop and proceeded to work with your buddies until it was some unholy hour of the morning, the crickets had gone to bed and your ability to remember basic information, like your name, had gone straight out of the window. And you would end up catching a cat-nap, waking up with the sun and if you were lucky, you’d do it all over again. Small wonder we refer to this hobby as a sickness…any other reason for following that kind of timeline and we’d need to have our heads checked!

The engine that you will see being prepared is a 6.7L Cummins-style billet aluminum unit known as “Executioner”. Put bluntly, this is a bad mother…anything that is being sent to King of the Street Challenge at Dragway 42 is going to be beefy. With a pinched timeline and a need to get things sorted before the trip to northern Ohio, things have to get accomplished…even if that means sketchy fast food, after-midnight prep, and lack of sleep depriving the brain of basic functionality. And yes, that engine is a beast.
