Learning New Tricks: Stainless Steel Welding Information From Finnegan’s C10 Build!

After a ton of work on his twin-turbo jet boat build that’s been years in the making, Finnegan has made a switch of priority and has gotten back to work on an even older project of his, a 1967 Chevrolet C10 that’s been in the works for…decades? Something like that. The truck dates back to his magazine days and he has been working on it, but between the boat, the big-ass box trucks, the milkshake-making six-door Ford and a certain coolant-slugging Hemi-powered 1955 Chevrolet, the C10 hasn’t exactly been a top priority in the shop. Happily, he’s taken the time to put the Chevy back forward and in the latest episode of Finnegan’s Garage, he’s brought in help to teach him some new welding tricks. The LT4 that is going to power the C10 needs headers, and they are going to be handmade stainless-steel units that are going to bark out of the sides.

With Michael Furyik of Dogfab.com in the shop assisting with the fabrication, Mike is going to dive into the world of creating with stainless steel. Have you ever seen those weld-focused pages like Weldporn on Instagram? Yeah…this is what Finnegan is hoping to get to with some help. Will he get there? If Furyik has anything to do with it, he will. From form-making to the actual weld itself, the headers will be built from basic tubes, a flange and a collector. Seems simple, but it’s only simple if you know what you’re doing and have done it before. Everybody starts somewhere at every single task and skill learned. Dive in and learn along with Finn!
