Long Term Review: Better Than Diesel? Is The Ford F-350 with a 7.3L GAS Godzilla Engine Any Good? Here’s The Verdict!

The gas vs diesel truck battle has been a long and contentious one, with nearly all non-commercial applications of the diesel being a waste of money. There, I said it. Diesel tow rigs are a waste of money, for most truck owners anyway. Remember, most folks never haul or tow with their trucks. Like ever. Including many, many, many of the people who own Cummins, Powerstroke, or Duramax powered rigs. But even most of the folks that do tow on occasion with their diesel powered rig, shouldn’t have bought the diesel. Not from a financial standpoint anyway. With diesel upgrades costing between $10,000 and $15,000 over their gas counterparts, it takes a lot of fuel and maintenance savings to pay for that upgrade, which are savings most folks won’t tow or haul enough to realize. It’s true. Do the math.

So what does a late model gasoline powered crew cab dually really drive like? Can it haul? Is it comfortable? Does it suck? Does it use so much gasoline it isn’t worth having? Or does it lack enough power to be effective at towing?

Watch the video below from Dirthead Dave Chappelle and see what he thinks about his long term Godzilla powered tow rig testing. He’s own this one for 5 years now, so he should have a really good idea of how well it works or doesn’t.
