More Is Better, Right? It’s Now A THREE-Engined Lada, And It Still Drives!

Three engines. Twelve cylinders. A combined displacement of four liters. And no, it’s not a Ferrari mill. Instead, it’s the little red Lada that we’ve been showing you for the last few days, built by Garage 54, and…well, this is starting to get obscene. Most Riva four-cylinders made double-digit horsepower on average, with only a small handful of models doing better than 120 horsepower. Even if all three of these engines were the hot one, that would be a 360-horsepower inline-12 engine on the best terms. None of these engines are fresh, the coupling mechanism is sketchy (to put it mildly) and we’re still waiting for the transmission or the rear axle to pack up and walk off of the job. And now, you can add the starter to the list of threatened parts on this car, because one starter is kicking over three engines.

At this point, what’s the harm? Add a fourth engine and make this thing powerskid like no tomorrow on skinny tires! Maybe a small turbocharger on each mill would do some good? If you’re going to go bonkers with a build, go all the way and don’t hold back until safety officials come knocking on the door to ask you some questions!

We love the overall build plan of this endeavor: Needs more power…ANOTHER ENGINE…still not fast enough…ANOTHER ENGINE…
