Have you ever driven on a highway and had a semi-truck blow one of it’s tires apart? I had it happen to me once a few years back, one loud boom as the tire exploded, a couple seconds of flap-flap-flap and then the happy grinding noise of metal on asphalt as the trucker pulled off onto the shoulder. I was passing the truck when it happened, so after making sure that I hadn’t been shot, I found the nearest exit and made sure I hadn’t ruined the interior.

Medium and heavy-duty truck tires are no joke. Running over 100 PSI and weighing in at a few hundred pounds, it’s serious enough when the tread pops, but what about when the wheels decide enough is enough and depart the truck altogether? This dash cam footage from (where else?) Russia shows what happens. The driver of the film car probably need a shot or six after seeing that tire flying towards his car, Final Destination-style. This one would’ve hurt.
