Morning Symphony: Staring Down The Throats Of A Wicked Mini Cooper!

Morning Symphony: Staring Down The Throats Of A Wicked Mini Cooper!

Individual throttle bodies…very few things look better and work better than a tube with an injector for each and every cylinder. Seeing four trumpet tubes with a butterfly valve at the bottom of each one, ready to spring into life and feed the beast warms our tiny hearts. It doesn’t matter what size the engine is, we want to hear the intake noise and hear a happy engine that is wearing this kind of jewelry. But what if we can go one better than sound for you today? Then hop onto the front of this Austin Mini Cooper S that is wearing an eight-port Arden head and is being fed by Lucas fuel injection. This is one evil little machine, with a rip to the engine that comes across like a super-aggressive version of VTEC. Putting around, it’s just another four-cylinder. But bury your foot into the carpet, watch the butterflies open up and start inhaling atmosphere by the hundreds of cubic feet, and you’ll get to hear this thing go from church mouse to Mighty Mouse in the blink of an eye. No wonder Minis are still popular after all of these years..with a noise like that and parts like these, we’re all about the little classics!

Awesome – but so is the price of the Arden head and injection! This was a championship winning setup in the 1960s and would probably be worth nearly as much as the whole car its fitted onto today!
