Much-Needed Power Boost: A Big-Block V8-swapped Goggomobil Burning Them Down At Northern Nats

Our Aussie friends love to stick a V8 where one never existed before, and we love them for it. We’ve seen them in Japanese kei trucks and vans, little Toyota cars and trucks, Mitsubishis that used to have big four-bangers in them, and even lawnmowers. But this might take the cake for the most unusual swap we’ve seen. That little flat-faced microcar is a Goggomobil (spelling is correct), a car from post-war Germany that, on it’s best day, couldn’t clear 20 horsepower with it’s biggest two-stroke engine. Do you really think that would fly in the land of excessive horsepower? Hell no, of course not. Chris Gant owns this hyperactive little popcorn kernel, which is basically a cart with headlights that carries around the engine. Burnouts? For days, mate, for days. And if you look closely at the inside of the car, you will see a second guy riding along. Do you think he was stuffed in there to put some weight over the axle?
