Seemed Like A Great Idea At The Time: Watch As This LS3-Powered Polaris Slingshot Rips Donuts!

The Polaris Slingshot is a polarizing little thing. If you want to break it down, consider it the most hacked version of a Saturn Sky you could possibly get…though that isn’t completely accurate. The rear-driven, single rear trike does come from the factory with the 2.4L inline-four that the Sky and it’s platform mate, the Pontiac Solstice, did, and for a road vehicle with a curb weight of 1,749 pounds before passengers, 177 horsepower with a five-speed manual trans should be a good amount of fun. But for some, that just won’t do, and that kind of thinking has lead to our video here: a Polaris Slingshot that has been retrofitted with an LS3. They claim 403 horsepower, but we think that’s a typo, since the standard figure for a factory-sold LS3 was 430 horsepower. Either way you look at it, you are shoving all of that horsepower and, more importantly, 424 ft/lbs of torque, through one single wheel out back. If a Slingshot had four wheels and a basic IRS setup in the back, it would be considered “sketchy” at best. One wheel pushing out all of the power and handling the rear suspension duties? At least one person is either brave or foolish enough to try to tame the beast!

(Thanks to Corey Aviles for the tip!)
