Music And Cars: Kill Some Time With This TheSmokingTire Podcast With Chevelle!

I’m a music geek. Unashamed music geek. Have been since the first time I picked up a bass, solidified when I made the switch to the drum kit. I’m pretty sure that is a rite of passage growing up, that you get into music at some point, that you dream of being in a band or making it big before life reminds you that it takes supreme talent and a brutal amount of hard work in order to maybe get onto the Billboard Top 100, let alone get to the top and into the arena tours. Life happens, and if I wasn’t going to play the music myself, the least I could do was to find good music to listen to. Chevelle was one of those bands. I caught the video for “Point #1” late one night while I was out of my head and haven’t looked back since. Chevelle is a permanent fixture in my playlist and has been since that first video, one of a handful of three-piece outfits that have captured my attention over the years.

Cool and all, sure, but other than the band’s name, why are they on BangShift? Well, that’s because they’re more than musicians, they’re car geeks too. If they weren’t, it’d be highly unlikely that Matt Farah would’ve brought them into the studio to just talk music. No, the Loeffler brothers, Pete (vocals and guitar) and Sam (drums) are into the life just as much as any true grease monkey would be. They snuck into Circuit of the Americas to take a lap on electric skateboards. If you’ve got some time to kill (and we suspect that you just might) then check out some of their stories that they shared with Matt when they were part of The Smoking Tire’s podcast. I think you’ll enjoy it.

They kinda gleaned over their background. To say they grew up around hot rods is a bit of an understatement. Awesome band, cool dudes.
