Video: Nelson Supercars Builds a Crazy, 1,750hp Thing-a-ma-jig

Tom Nelson is a name we’re sure you know. He’s the California engine and supercar builder who has had his hands in a bunch of high profile projects. His latest creation is a wild Chevy Avalanche truggy that’s got a twin-turbo, all-aluminum, 427ci Chevy motor that he claims makes 1,750 horsepower. It also has a sequentially shifted five-speed manual trans that has had the clutched swapped for a torque converter.

Apparently this truck is going to be used for desert running and terrorizing the dunes out west. There’s a reason we never see junk like this back east, we’ve got none of that stuff.

It’s a wild ass truck that runs like stink on the asphalt, so we’re sure it’ll be a hoot on the sand. Our favorite part is naturally the backside where the motor, plumbing and mechanical goodness is literally hanging out in the breeze for all to see.

This 10 minute video is wild stuff and it’ll have you craving a spot in one of the passenger seats. This thing seats four!
