Like all other fans of drag racing history, we’re looking forward to seeing the upcoming film Snake and Mongoose that tells the story of Don Prudhomme and Tom McEwen who rose to national prominence as they barnstormed the country and raced their asses off in front of packed houses from coast to coast. The story looks at the personal lives of the two men and how their partnership with Mattel toys transformed not only them but the entire sport of drag racing as a whole. It wasn’t just two guys racing funny cars, it was a cultural phenomenon that got kids and adults alike out to race tracks and helped to launch a whole generation of hot rodders.

There have been snippets and clips released and a couple of short trailers but this one, launched yesterday is the longest and bestest of them yet. You really get a sense of the film when you watch this two plus minute trailer. Hell, we’re freaking pumped about all the vintage footage that the production team managed to unearth in order to complete the picture.

The film is being released in more than 20 cities on September 6, 2013. What 20+ cities? We kind of know but are sworn to keep our mouth shut at this time. As news breaks, we’ll keep you posted. We know we’ll be near a theater on September 6th, that is for sure!
