Pedalfest Video: Two Pro Fuel Dragsters Smoke the Hides and Get Crazy

The IHRA’s Pro Fuel class has provided some great action at the sanctioning body’s Nitro Jam events. The class features injected, nitromethane burning dragsters that are allowed more fuel and other liberties that NHRA cars aren’t. Low five second laps at over 280-mph with huge header flames have become a hallmark of the class.

The lap in the video below, featuring “The Shredder” of Mike Manners and “The Black Pearl” of Bill Evans, took place at US 131 Dragway in Martin, Michigan, in August, 2010. Both men smoke the tires at the hit of the throttle and it’s gas pedal pogo stick action from there on out.

Pay close attention to Evans (in the right lane) as he completes one of the closest saves we’ve ever seen. Scott Darrow, who posted the video, said that Evans didn’t mean to smack the throttle the last time, but his foot slapped the pedal. That was almost the world’s most expensive “whoopise-doodle”.
