Huge Collection of Photos from the Traditional Rod and Kulture Jalopy Showdown Drags at Beaver Springs

The Traditional Rod and Kulture Jalopy Showdown Drags happed at the ultra cool Beaver Springs Dragway in Beaverton, Pennsylvania, on October 2. The race obviously featured lots of traditional hot rods, and scads of old race cars including a twin-engine dragster that used a pair of Hemis to smoke the tires most of the way down the strip.

Beaver Springs is a perfect location for such a race because the track is a totally retro-feeling place with a grass lined strip, small timing tower, and scenic country setting. Track operator Beaver Bob McCardle can be seen in these photos. McCardle actually lives right on the grounds of the strip. He’s well known as a great track operator and judging by some of the fun games and other tomfoolery shown in the photos, he was up to his old tricks.
