Earlier this year Pennzoil returned to our radar in a big way with their “Airlift Drift” advertisement that involved a bright yellow Dodge Challenger Hellcat being driven sideways at every possible opportunity. even when the stretch of asphalt it was on was being lifted by four cargo helicopters. Sure, the airlift part was CGI but the driving wasn’t. That was all done by wheelman supreme Rhys Millen in Cape Town, South Africa. Between his disregard for the redline and the intoxicating sound of one very pissed off Hemi being thrown around by the scruff of the neck, our full and undivided attention was earned.
And apparently it was not a one-time deal, either. Pennzoil is spooling up for a three-part ad campaign next year that, according to them, “the latest vehicle models driven to the extreme.” If that means anything like the Hellcat ads, then we are on board. Yes, I meant “ads” in the plural, because they just dropped the prequel to the “Airlift Drift” clip entitled “Joyride”. Other than having the company name on it, what does it mean? More angry Hellcat noises. And who doesn’t like that?
Cool but only one problem, he was only given the black key.
I’m curious why the Challenger’s tail lamps are disabled in these ads, centre lamp is lite but no tail lamps?
Not that it really matters with all that 707 horse power coming out to play.
Neat, but the FnF style makes me cringe a little.
