The Baja 1000, A World Of X Documentary To Air Thursday, Plus A Kurt Caselli Tribute And New TV Deal For SCORE!

We love off road racing around here. I know it’s not necessarily our “norm”, but ever since I attended the Baja 1000 back in 2007 I’ve been hooked. The SCORE Baja 1000 is one of those races that attracts Pros, amateurs, and tourists alike, and has to be seen to be believed. It’s all about high speed through treacherous terrain, and is one of the few races in the world where finishing is the true victory. Winning is a luxury. Lucky for you the guys at The World of X-Games have created a new documentary on the 2013 Tecate Score Baja 1000, that is going to air Thursday, December 26th @ 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT on ESPN2 and Saturday, December 28th @ 4:00 p.m. ET / 2:00 p.m. PT on ABC.

Not only is this new documentary going to show you the ins and outs and ups and downs of racing the 2013 Baja 1000, it’s also going to have a very fitting Kurt Caselli tribute. You’ll remember that just 100 miles from the end of the 2013 Baja 1000, AMA National Champion Kurt Caselli hit a small animal and crashed at high speed. Despite the best efforts of fellow riders Rickey Brabec and Ivan Ramirez, along with medical personnel on site, Caselli ultimately succumbed to his injuries and died in Ensenada, Mexico. At 30 years old, he was considered by many to be one of the greatest off road riders ever. With championships won, Dakaar Rallys finished, and multiple Baja 1000 races under his belt, he was the real deal.

And Caselli isn’t the only one you’ll find like this at Baja. From big buck teams with drivers like Robby Gordon, to celebrity bike builders like Jesse James, and even plumbers from El Cajon, Baja has got it all with regards to racers. And the variety of cars and trucks that run it is awesome! From near stock VW Bugs to full tilt Trophy Trucks, and everything in between, you’ll see stuff at Baja that you just won’t see most anywhere.

If you still can’t go to Baja, because those pesky Mexican Federales just can’t forgive and forget, don’t worry. In addition to watching the documentary, there will be 6 SCORE off road races in 2014, and three of them are in the United States. If you still can’t make it to California or Nevada, where our deserts make for the perfect race track, then you’ll be thrilled to know that a new TV Deal is rumored to be on the horizon for all 6 SCORE races!
