The Roman Takes A Look At The History Of The New York International Auto Show!

The New York International Auto Show was the reason many people looked forward to this April. New cars out of the yang, folks, and several with horsepower figures that would knock auto execs and journalists on their backsides not even ten years ago. You have a street-legal, production vehicle that can bust out nine-second quarters and hang the hoops from the factory parked next to an all-wheel-drive SUV that is packing weapons-grade power, and that’s just one major manufacturer. But the specific cars are just a part of the whole of an auto show like the NYIAS.

Yes, an auto show is anticipated for debuts of new models, but there is also the atmosphere of the show itself: where are the trends heading, what is the new technology, who is the most innovative. And then there is the aspect of the public coming in to check out the show for themselves. This isn’t SEMA, where it’s supposed to be closed to the public. This is an open show, as it’s been since the first one in 1900, and if you think that manufacturers aren’t going to pay attention to the hoards as they pass by the display, you have another thing coming.

Regular Car Review’s “The Roman” was at the New York International Auto Show along with Mr. Regular himself, and in addition to shooting a lot of footage, decided to nose into the history of the NYIAS. From it’s humble beginnings at the dawn of the automobile to the show it is now, he covers every strong point along the timeline. Give it a listen, and learn something new today!
