The Parting Shift: Ripping The Handle In A 347 Stroker Powered Mustang!

The Parting Shift: Ripping The Handle In A 347 Stroker Powered Mustang!

I ran across this gear banging video on YouTube and I dug it because it is full of hard shifting win and the car is something that I think most BangShifters can relate too. The machine is a Fox body Mustang with a 347ci stroker small block in it and the transmission has been stuffed full of parts from G-Force. The guy comes off the starting line at 4500 RPM (according to his comments on the video) and the car hikes the front end pretty good! This is not a clutchless transmission as he stabs the third pedal every time he makes a gear change. By watching the clock on the video it seems like the car runs somewhere in the high 10s or low 11s. That’s big time fun in our book! The thing sounds great too as it legs out through the top end traps.

As much as we love highlighting the 9,000 RPM small blocks and trick clutchless transmissions, this is the type of stuff most stick jamming drag racers are driving and there’s nothing wrong with that! Even with a conventional transmission that has been modified and stuck behind a trick adjustable clutch, the dude who owns the car says that he has $4500 beans tied up in the piece from clutch to tail shaft. Is that more than a built automatic? Sure. Is this thing way cooler and more fun than the same car with a slush box in it? Worth every damned penny.

Just another granny shifter. Can’t understand why you think this is so cool he is NOT bangshifting hardly anyone has the balls to do it anymore. This is a Lebanon Valley Dragway in upstate NY and must have been a test and tune or track rental as the stands are empty.
