Yes, Mighty Car Mods found another 1990s Mitsubishi Mirage Lancer whatever and adopted it into the fun, dysfunctional family. Our first question: WHY? They already have a mid-1990s Lancer (see also: Mirage) that they converted from a horrifyingly bad nightmare of a Fast and Furious outtake into a solid little screamer that was low on show-car bullshit but would handle itself nicely. So…question: Why did they buy a somehow even worse one?
First, we need to explain the style of the car. In Australia, it’s called “sex-spec”. The easiest way to explain it: well-done rice. Instead of just being brightly colored and stupid, actual engineering and modifications had to be present in addition to bright colors, custom interiors and sound systems that could vibrate the International Space Station if one so desired. They’re like SEMA cars in a way: look good for a few shows, get sold, change hands and soon enough they start to look like a child star that’s three steps away from a rehab visitation.
That’s kind of the story with “2WISTD”. This car has actually been converted to a switchable four-wheel-drive setup and is running a turbocharged 4G63, so mechanically, it should be a riot, a dopey-looking Eclipse GSX-T if you will. The visuals still cause us to throw up a little, but pretty much everything works. And the price was an even four thousand dollars. Fine and good too. But 300 wheel horsepower out of an overrated Mirage? Okay…that would be properly fast. If it wasn’t being weighted down with python leather and a ton of sound system in the trunk…

The car isn’t AWD at all McTaggart, thats just Moog trolling people. My thinking is he knows he paid too much for a car thats, as you said, “well done rice”, with no other redeeming qualities 😛
I think its because Moog wants to believe so badly that it is an evo and not just a crappy lancer
