The WideLux At Holley Intergalactic Ford Fest: Dyno, Burnout, And More!

It’s been a few months since the first Holley Intergalactic Ford Fest, but the memories of Fat Erik’s Powerstroke-powered Toyota “WideLux” on the autocross course is impossible to forget: the thing would move the hell out, but halfway into a corner and it would lift the inside tire and the ass end of the truck would come around like a little kid, eager to see what was going on. We aren’t talking just a little bit, either…we’re talking a couple of inches hanging in the air while the driver is sawing the wheel like a madman. At any point the WideLux’s run could become completely unhinged, and just in case that wasn’t enough fun, every now and then it would burp a little bit of coolant out of the front of the engine, just in case the tires didn’t already lave zero grip out back.

We have to give the crew credit…whipping up such a radical build and kicking it in the balls all weekend long without mercy takes a special breed, and the whole crew made it look easy. Here’s the view of Ford Fest from their eyes, from every part of their Grand Champion competition to the burnout competition. It might not have been a fair fight against Tim Grillot’s Fairmont, but they gave it a hell of a shot!
