Are you getting the most out of your build? Are you sure about that? It’s kind of a loaded question to ask someone who has been busting their ass, getting their car together, but it’s a worthwhile one to ask, because nobody wants to leave anything on the table, or worse, realize that their engine isn’t happy with the tune it currently has. For a lot of people, getting it to idle, run, and drive around is enough…but that might not be optimal. Hot Rod Garage has two project cars that are perfect for looking at the benefits of tuning: Lucky’s 1966 Chevelle, which packs an LS swap and a Holley HP EFI system, and Tony’s Demon 340, which is running a Holley carb. With a bet on the table, literally, they tweak their cars to the best of their ability before driving them down to Westech’s dyno. The automotive lie detector will be used to baseline the cars, then after Westech’s gurus work the cars over, will show just how much horsepower was waiting to be unearthed!
Lesson learned… don’t bother with carbs on your street car unless you have a lot of time on your hands, and maybe a dyno.
Thanks for the Holley commercial.
That’s 16 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.
ok… switch the Demon over to a F.A.S.T. system and see what happens
