This Porsche’s Owner Is Our Kind Of Porsche Owner: It’s All About Driving The Car

This Porsche’s Owner Is Our Kind Of Porsche Owner: It’s All About Driving The Car

Alexander Bermudez doesn’t come across as your stereotypical Porsche guy. He will be the first to tell you that his Porsche 911 isn’t the typical build; his 1990 964-era car has a built motor, suspension from a Carrera RS, a roof transplant to ditch the sunroof, cage, and weight reduction program does make for an interesting and entertaining vehicle. But he doesn’t focus on that. He focuses instead on driving. See, Alexander is an automotive photographer, and he has the luck of being able to drive not only his own cars (his Boxster racer is also shown), but others as well. He actually drives the cars…and that’s why this Petrolicious video caught my eye. I’m not fond of Porsches. Sure, they’re capable machines, but they just don’t do it for me. What does, however, is watching the owner of a car ring it out on a closed canyon road, tapping the rev limiter as he clips a corner. I like the idea that he modified the car to perform, not to show off or to hit some unrealistic horsepower number. I really like his idea of balance: the power of a water-cooled 911 with the handling characteristics of the older car. He talks about how the car communicates with him as he drives it, and how it does a better job of communicating the harder he pushes the Porsche. If only more people were as in-tuned with their car…
