Most normal people have tons of ideas of cool stuff for their projects, but they don’t know the physics involved in making them a reality. Because of this most folks won’t try and the rest fall into the category of folks that figure enough trial and error will result in something that works or doesn’t but at least it will be fun. We like those people. And then there are those that know geometry, understand fabrication, and who have the tools and skills to design things that work. That’s Matt at Urchfab. So when he decided the fully CNC Plasma cut motorcycle he’s building for Xtreme Plasma should have a suspended seat, he went all out. And it is rad.

I think you’ll agree that his vision and understanding, along with some simple but necessary tools, results in some pretty cool stuff coming out of his shop. Honestly, if this bike wasn’t built from flat plate, resulting in an exercise in i-beam fabrication and triangulation, I wouldn’t be that engaged. But because it is, and the challenges that poses, it makes me dig it.
