It has been a hill climb frenzy across the USA as of late. The Spectre Performance 341 Challenge was a smash success and that event was followed up by climbs at both Pikes Peak and Mount Washington. All three events are not for the faint of heart as they all have drops and blind corners that can swallow amateur racers whole.
The winner of this year’s Spectre 341 Challenge is noted road racer and defending 2010 champion, Lou Gigliotti. Gigliotti attacked the stretch of Nevada Highway 341 in his Corvette ZR1 and took a roof mounted camera on the trip. Gigliotti is a three time SCCA National Champion and a man that has been racing Corvettes for decades. The ZR1, which in the wrong hands is an unguided missile, acts more like a surgical instrument under the control of Gigliotti.
40 people took a shot at the hill and Spectre Performance President Amir Rosenbaum was so pleased with the turnout and the event, he’s already “booked” the hill for 2012. Geez Lohnes, I see RJ Gotlieb was in No. 5 position, and not even a mention?? I can remember when that car was ALL OVER HRM on a regular basis, it was a cool car then, and still is in my book….and that’s sayin alot coming from a Ford guy:):)
Yeah GotTlieb was a regular…for good reason…but maybe everyone just got tired of seeing the name. Yo Hot Rod, take a lesson…it’s the same with Bonneville now. People have just got to do things for their own reasons and be able to go a couple of months without seeing their names in print. Anyhow, the video is fuh-reakin’ awesome. Love it.
Oh, and great to see that Clark made it into the top 37!
