Video: In-Car Foootage of a Run Up The Big Eliminator at Gravelrama

If there is one event we’re going to commit ourselves to checking out in 2011, it is Gravelrama, held every year in Cleves, Ohio. A veritable orgy of horsepower, rock crawling, flat drags, uphill drags, and the main event on Sunday, the assault on Big Eliminator Hill. The hill is a massive mountain of pea gravel standing more than seven stories tall. The “course” is a 175-foot blast up the hill, which has an average climbing angle of 75 degrees!

There are multiple classes and categories in all the events. On the Big Eliminator the object is to get over the top. When multiple people in each class complete the feat, they are forced to start ever higher up the hill, leaving them no run up.

The town rolls out the welcome wagon, throwing a big party and parade on the Wednesday before the event. These videos, especially the first one, are awesome and really capture what the event is all about. It looks like HUGE fun!
