Video: Watch The Greatest 8-Second Sleeper In America Lay Down A Lap At Atco

There’s nothing better than a great sleeper and the 1967 Chevelle in this video is better than great, it is sublime. The car goes by the name, “Honk If Parts Fall Off” and it sure looks like stuff could be jumping to freedom at any moment. All of that disguise goes away when the tree comes down though. The car hooks and books, carrying the front end for about 60ft before setting the tires down and running into the 8.60s…in the quarter mile. The parachute mount on the back is there because it needs to be there, not as a sight gag.

Watch this video and discuss…it rules.

Press play below to see the greatest sleeper in America run 8.60s out of nowhere!

If i remember correctly I saw this car running in the 8.50 index class at atco a few weeks back, and I believe they said it was a street legal car.

I’m assuming those are turbos I heard before staging. The cam required to run that fast N/A would totally blow the sleeper vibe. Well done!

My car had the same bumper sticker. My friend stuck it on after I hammered the gas from the light and at the next light some guy pulled up honking at me.and holding up part if the rear trim that fell off the car when I smashed the gas.

Yup, Turbo’s and a glide. sophisticated set-up form the sound of it and really well sorted. The turbo age is upon us and now everyone has 8 second street cars. Amazing.

  5. Turbo!

Turbos all the way around! Pun intended.
The fear and uncertainty of turbocharging during the late 1970s and early 1980s,similar to the fear and uncertainty of fuel injection thirtyish years earlier still, has given way to the new age of running turbos on anything!

These are great and wonderful days for performance and efficient, sound fuel economy.

That is wild. I thought you were pulling my leg and was sure that it would stall, explode, burst into flames or all 3! I agree with Turbo! – there is no way that you could move that tank w/o lots of cubes and artificial atmosphere.

i’m all about ‘All Go and No Show!!’… and 4 doors and a PA license plate just adds to the coolness of it… Cool! Though i personally shed about 1-1/2 seconds off of a car’s ET in my head if it’s running a power adder… not that i have anything against power adders, it’s just a kind of cheating in my mind (i’ll be ‘cheating’ soon myself with a blower, so i’m not against it).. but even 1.5 seconds less, would put him in the low 10’s, which is mighty awesome for a street registered N/A car.. and who doesn’t love 4 doors?
