Watch This 2014 S1000R Cause A Motorcycle Dyno To Explode And Catch Fire

This video has a triangulation of things that make it mandatory to watch. First, it has a pretty mean motorcycle in the form of a 2014 BMW 1000 R. This thing has a base price of like $13,000, makes 160hp, and looks pretty mean, which we don’t think we have ever said about a BMW motorcycle before. Secondly, it has fire. Thirdly it has an idiot in it that despite being confronted with a confluence of things telling him to cease and desist the activity he was participating in, continued on and destroyed his motorcycle. Oh, and all of it happens on a dyno sort of contraption.

We’re not sure where this was filmed but apparently the point of the exercise is to strap your bike to a roller and see how fast it can get the roller spinning. There’s a digital speedometer you can see in front of the bike reading in Kilometers per hour and it tops out at 344. That’s a pretty astounding 214mph. The problem comes when smoke begins to judiciously pour out of the “dyno” and instead of lifting and slowing the rear tire down, the rider keeps it to the wood until the whole thing bursts into flames and the fire seems to do a pretty decent job of cooking his bike before someone gets an extinguisher on it. Also note how the guy rams the thing into the rev limiter in EVERY gear and when the rear tire hits top speed (again on the limiter) he just sets it there until said smoke and fire happen. Magical stuff here, people.

Meh. 160 HP and a 215 MPH speedo? Europeans. They’re so cute. It’s been over a decade that Mr. Turbo ran their ZX11 pump gas street bike in the dyno competitions during Bike Week at Daytona. That daily driver, pump gas bike made 438 HP, and would top 215 with ease…They finally stopped competing with the bike to let other folks have a chance, now I think there’s even some Hardly Ableson’s making that power…
