Watch A 438ci Small Block Ford On Nitrous Make Nearly 1,300hp And Spin Past 8,000 RPM!

We loves us some dyno pull videos. In this case, it is a small block Ford engine built by CNC Motorsports. This engine measures out to 438ci and with the nitrous bottle valve open, makes 1,270hp and over 1,000 lb/ft of torque on the dyno. Peak hp comes at 6,900 RPM while peak torque comes at 6,000. The guys spun the mill up to 8,300 during the dyno pull shown here. While the world goes nuts on a daily basis for turbos, nitrous is still a massive part of the drag racing scene because it is still the undisputed king of budget power and when compared to installing a turbo setup, it is far easier for the average hot rodder to install and make work. Sure, like everything else it has risks, but so doesn’t waking up in the morning. Get educated, understand what is happening, and then love life with the little button depressed.

The guys at CNC claim to be putting a 500hp shot through this engine on the dyno so that means it is cranking 700hp with no help at all which is still REALLY stout. We’d have to venture a guess that this engine was heading into a drag race car or some sort of really heavy duty street brawler. While the mind boggling power that is being produced by ever larger big blocks these days makes our tongues hang out, you have to admit that nearly 1,300hp out of 438ci on the spray is pretty spectacular. A small block still has a place in this world for sure.
