Watch A Big Money Grudge Race at E-Town Go Very Badly For a Racer In A Fox Body Mustang (Driver OK)

Big money grudge racing has long been a part of the drag racing landscape in all areas of the country. While the guys down south know how the game is played, we think that the amount of cash and intensity of competition that happens in the greater NYC area is probably the wildest in the country. Take this race for example. Reportedly, there was $10,000 on the line for this single run and both cars were loaded for bear. There’s a cool late 1970s/early 1980s Malibu and the Fox body ‘Stang that eats concrete HARD.

You’ll notice that the Mustang was given a car length head start as it is staged with the rear wheels and that both guys leave early on the tree, but that’s not really anything people are paying attention to with this type of racing. As the Malibu motors down the right lane, the Mustang goes into a massive power wheelie, so tall it may actually scrape the sheetmetal wing on the rear of the car judging by the sparks thrown. The Mustang comes down, smacks the wall and then turns dead right and accelerates into the wall on the right side of the track. We’re not sure if the driver was knocked out or what, but it is a huge hit.

The driver made it out of the car, reportedly lost $10,000 plus his racer, and now has a car that essentially is a pair of decent valve covers. Not good!

I’ve seen those $$$ runs @ Etown before. Typically no trap speeds or ETs are posted @ the 1320 mark.

I hope that junkie who bent his stang didn’t have to be ‘splaynin’ to no mrs why the family will be eating Cherrios for a few months

I ‘ve known about the New York City metro street racing scene since the early 1970s.
This is some real serious business involved.
With the big money races on board, there is a level of respect and some strong checks and balances about the racing and the people immediately involved.
