Racing an altered can be a real handful as this racer and the crowd at a New Zealand drag strip recently found out. As the car is launching, it gets way out of shape and ends up rolling onto the roof and smacking the wall pretty hard right in front of the crowd at Masterton Drag Strip. By the looks of it something must have gotten on one or both of the rear tires because the car starts to swing a weirdly gentle arc before it gets too sideways and the driver’s attempt to save it ends up putting the whole ring on the lid. Note that the throttle wings up a time or two once it goes turtle.
What’s lucky is that the car didn’t have more of a head of steam and totally leave the ball yard because the crowd was pretty close to the wall. For a second it looks like the purple altered is going to get up and over the wall, but it stays within the confines of the track after striking the wall.
To give the driver some credit, the dude drove the car right to the end. You can see the wheels turn into the skid as soon as things go sideways and they are at full lock when it goes over. The good news is that the car probably wasn’t hurt all that bad and hopefully after some fiberglass repair and good cleaning of the driver’s fire suit, the car can be put back into battle!
Cinch your belts and press play!
Do they flip opposite like the toilets flush opposite down there?
Is that how they drift down under?
Congrats to the most clueless commentator I have EVER heard
