Watch A Classic Falcon Tear Up The Woods At The Swedish Rally – Screaming 289 Fun!

The only things neater than rally cars are vintage rally cars, especially when they are old American iron! Thanks to our Norwegian correspondent Arild, we were tipped off to this short but sweet video of a classic Ford Falcon tearing around the course at the Swedish Rally a few years ago. The little coupe sounds fantastic and seems to be working pretty good as a handling machine on a couple of different surfaces as well. From sideways on the dirt under throttle to weaving through a tight chicane on an asphalt section, this Falcon was built to do it right. It was also built to do it on classic Minilite wheels which rule all in every possible application.

We don’t have much regarding tech information on the car, but we’re going to make a couple assumptions. The first is that this baby is powered by a warm little small block, probably a 289. The second is that there’s a toploader four speed handing the gear changes behind the motor, and the third is that the suspension is upgraded but not crazy. Maybe a set of stiffer, shorter springs and some sway bars. If this is part of a vintage racing class, all of those things may be restricted anyway. It really does look and sound awesome throwing dirt up and equipped with the mud flaps on all four corners. The car really seems like a time machine from the days when factory efforts from the likes of Ford looked like this!
