Supras have been dying at a high rate on drag strips in both Europe and North America. A couple of weeks ago we showed you one blowing up and turning the strip at Englishtown into a hibachi grill. Today we’re heading across the Atlantic ocean and back to our favorite English drag strip, Santa Pod. The big Thunderball event was last weekend and apparently there was some sort of import/Japanese car class. This footage came from qualifying where one racer in a Supra launched off, made it to about the eighth mile and lost the handle on the car.
As you’ll see the Supra, which is in the left lane (as you are looking at the track) makes a strange move to the center line right around the half track mark. The driver corrects by giving the car full left rudder and some throttle, but it appears the tire comes off the wheel and then the wheel digs into the track, vaulting the car onto the roof, where it stays for the remainder of the pass.
Amazingly, the car barely crosses the center line and the dude must have gotten a time slip for his efforts. While it totally sucks for him now because his car is busted, sometime in the future he can frame that sucker with a still of him crossing through the traps on his lid!

I did hear a rumour that after the Supra rolled all the windows were still intact. Apparently when it was rolled back onto its wheels the windows broke !!!!
