St. Joseph De Beauce, Canada was the scene of the most recent big rig street race in the Great White North. Leon Smith of hot rod Kenworth dump truck fame was there to mix it up with the competition and he sent us a few videos, which are great. We also found some totally gnarly in-cab footage of a guy running his truck up the hill and ripping through the gears like Ronnie Sox. The best part is that the truck the video was shot in has a huge sleeper cab, so there are like five people in there as the truck is racing, all in comfy seats, loving life. They give off a great yell when it appears the truck they are in pulls away from the competition.
The second video was shot by Leon’s wife out the windshield of the dump truck and it is a perfect illustration of the one really scary part of these races. There are people less than a couple feet away from these mighty beasts as they scream up the hill. During the competition when the trucks are pulling loaded trailers, the speeds are relatively low (but the trucks are pulling lots of weight, so that’s another danger), but during the parts of the competition when the tractors are competing bobtail, they are really moving along, as you’ll see in this clip.
Press play below to see these two cool videos. We need to check one of these events out, and soon. We’ll be the guys sitting on the top of the hill, though. We don’t want to become Canadian road pizza if something goes wrong!
When’s the last time you saw a drag car with 4 passenger going down the 1/4 mile?
He could have people pay to ride with him, I bet he would make a few bucks LOL.
Both videos are the same!!!
