Of all the nutty and shocking Russian dash cam wreck videos we have posted over the years here on BangShift, nothing tops this one. So much happens at once, the scene actually looks like something out of a Jerry Bruckheimer move rather than a horrifying real life episode. As you’ll see on the tape, two cars collide head on at high speed. That’s bad enough in the first place, but when you add the guy kneeling behind his car changing a tire and the obviously alert driver who has milliseconds to react and weave through the debris field and flying cars it moved to a whole new level.
From what we see on the tape, it looks like the driver that the camera car is following moves over to the left slightly when he sees the disabled car on the shoulder of the road, but at the same time another driver heading in the opposite direction has pulled out to make a pass. The results are freaking unbelievable. We sure hope that the drivers involved in the crash are OK. The impact is incredible and the destruction is instant and devastating.
Sometimes it is unavoidable to have to work on your car on the side of the road, but the risks of doing that are very real, as this video demonstrates. Moral of the story? Try to limp your broken junk off the nearest turn out, rest stop, or parking lot. The dude changing his tire could have very easily been killed when the Vodka hit the fan on this highway.
Press play and duck!
The driver that the camera car is following moves over to the left slightly when he sees the disabled car on the shoulder of the road, but remains in his lane. The driver heading in the opposite direction pulls into oncoming traffic.
The fault is entirely with the oncoming car.
I very much dislike seeing this sort of video posted here. We could be watching the deaths or serious injury of fellow motorists. It’s fine to say that you hope that the drivers involved in the crash are OK, but the fact remains that you don’t really need this sort of electronic rubbernecking to drive traffic to an otherwise interesting an informative site.
On some levels I agree with Ermott’s take, but on the other hand I tire, as I’m sure most of you do, of the unrelenting circus of jerks who put my life and others at jeopardy, pulling stupid stunts like this every dang day.
The driver of the car who crossed into oncoming traffic and caused this, should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of whatever laws exist in that country. If he/she died doing this, so much the better. And the pool shall be cleaner.
Thanks for this cautionary video. Neither driver was keeping his eyes up. The cars held up amazingly well in a worst case (driver’s side offset crash).
For some reason we see A LOT of videos like this lately and they all seem to come out of eastern europe. If you listen to the video you can hear foriegn music playing in the camera car. Why so many “dash cams” I dont know but viewing some of these videos shows that the driving habits in these countries is down right horrible.
this is typical of the driving habits in the United States as well… this type of accident is all too common here in the U.S… not sure why you think this is any different than here
and yeah, Bangshift, i love you guys, but i think it’s in bad taste to post crash videos like these… it’s horrible to think about the families that are devastated because of these horrific accidents… please rethink this concept.. thanks BS!
Honestly, I see nothing wrong with posting this.
As a “car guy” I don’t like seeing people hurt or worse, but this is a perfect educational warning honestly on poor driving, regardless of place.
Stuff like serves as a warning to be vigilant and defensive in driving.
This could happen to anyone, at any time. As someone who was on Powertour 2010, I recall the aftermath of some careless person’s choice and the aftermath, so this is a good reminder to be careful.
Take it for what it’s worth, my 2 cents.
