Pistons Falling From The Sky – Watch This John Deere Pulling Tractor Blow Up In Spectacular Fashion At A Pull

This is the first terrestrial engine explosion we have seen that actually makes it rain pistons. For real. After the engine gives up the ghost and the tractor stops, pistons and rods are still falling from the sky. Total lunacy!

This video was made at an Indiana Pulling League event in the town of Tipton, Indiana and it shows a John Deere pulling tractor called “Hammered” making a hook and just when things seem to be nicely coming together for the driver and the tractor, all hell breaks loose. The large inline six diesel engine does what we have seen so many do over the years, it breaks in two at the bottom of the cylinders. The boost, inertia of the rotating assembly, and the sheer force of the failure cause this massive hunk of iron, aluminum, intake and exhaust tubing, and all else attached to it to rip the nose of the tractor off and land sideways across the rest of the engine.

The wildest thing about this particular explosion is that you can pretty much still hear the crank spinning in the remains of the block and you wills multiple pistons rain from the sky in the aftermath of the catastrophic engine failure. In some ways it may be the most impressive display of carnage we have ever sen a pulling engine suffer. This thing does not just explode, it totally flies apart.

The driver is OK, the replays are amazing, and you’ll freak when you see the pistons flying!
