The physics of pulling are fascinating. Getting the weigh balance of your tractor right is one thing but being able to apply the power and properly use your chassis is another. On this hook, we are going to see a radial engine equipped pulling tractor from Europe get the snot kicked out of it. You’ll notice the front end coming up high and fast and for a moment either the engine hiccuped or the driver chopped the throttle to bring the nose down. Going right back into the throttle after pulling it down, the tractor’s nose began to rise and fall, ultimately hammering the ground, destroying the front end, and landing on its side. Crazy.
The craziest thing to watch is during the slow motion. Pay attention to the chromoly tubing as it bends and strains with the weight of the engine driving the tractor into the ground. Ultimately the cage held up and we hope the guys can fix it.
We’ve always wanted to experience the feeling of a tractor like this one at work but videos like this give us pause. Like every other motorsport out there, risks abound. Thankfully the safety equipment did its job!
