What Does It Look Like When A Car Is Sent Into A Tree At 55 Miles An Hour? Simply Put, Bad.

Car at speed plus trees equals bad time for everyone involved. Nobody will question that logic. A tree of decent size and girth, will stop a car right in it’s tracks and only show a scar on it’s bark as a result. It doesn’t matter how heavy the car is or how fast the car is, the tree will always win. No matter if the road is wet, icy, or if the driver is distracted or made one wrong judgement call and found themselves out of control, you wind up at the mercy of the leafy juggernaut. In this video, the car show Fifth Gear wanted to see what happens when a car drills a tree head-on at fifty miles an hour. The victim for this test is a Renault Laguna, which packs a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating…top-tier stuff. The tree is a dead monster at the end of the MIRA test track. Using a cable draw system, the Laguna’s fate is sealed, but the question is simple: How would the occupants do in such a crash? Click play below to find out.
