Wild Ride: Watch As Augusto Scalbi Goes Barrel-Rolling In His TC2000 Renault After Mechanical Failure!

Wild Ride: Watch As Augusto Scalbi Goes Barrel-Rolling In His TC2000 Renault After Mechanical Failure!

When you see a car that is as torn up as Agusto Scalbi’s Renault Fluence TC2000 race car is in this video, the first question is usually “What the hell did he hit?” The answer: Nothing. Scalbi was running third in the final event of a TC2000 race (touring cars in Argentina) when something broke in the Renault. What, specifically let go has yet to be determined…from the video, it appears to be steering related, while a friend noted that the brakes might have failed on the car. Whatever the case, the car runs wide off of a right-hand turn, slides, and when the tires dig in at over 130 miles an hour, the Renault goes rolling straight to the fence with frankly horrifying speed, shedding body panels and most of the rear suspension along the way. Scalbi was knocked out during the crash but did come to, and other than some bruises, wasn’t worse for the wear.

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

Well – his shorts will be as brown and full as those worn by the Argentinian soldiers when they woke up to find their comrades had been slit from groin to gizzard by the Gurkhas in the night during the Falklands War.

Although why anybody would want to go to war over a few islands covered in sheep and penguin shit is beyond me….

I hope they ask the circuit why they have a launching spot on the grass just before the gravel trap – the car didn’t even touch it!
