Vote For BangShift In The On All Cylinders Muscle Car Matchups March Madness

Vote For BangShift In The On All Cylinders Muscle Car Matchups March Madness

The guys at OnAllCylinders.com asked us if we wanted to participate in their March Maddness Muscle Car Match-Ups this year and we said HELL YEAH BABY! Of course in typical BangShift style, when it was our turn to choose our Muscle Cars, we didn’t just go for the easy GTO, Camaro, etc. Nope, we got all BangShifty on it and let everyone else have the easy ones. Check out our choices below, and vote for them in the comments section below AND at OnAllCylinders.com. OAC is the official spot folks, so make sure you go there through the link below and vote.

As you’ll see, we chose the 1967 KR8 Tasca Mustang, aka the very first Cobra Jet Mustang. That one goes without saying, since Ford based the entire Cobra Jet program off of the efforts of the gang at Tasca.

Carrying the torch for the AMC weirdos we know and love, we’ve also chosen the 1971 AMC Hornet SC360 which is a bad ass little car, and arguably one of the least weird AMCs ever.

For the Chevrolet lover in all of us, we’ve got the 1966 427 Biscayne. The street racers dream if you chose the Powerglide option, but definitely cooler with the Muncie 4 speed.

And bringing up the rear is…well…a Studebaker. Yes, the 1963 Lark R2 with the Paxton Supercharger and all. It’s so ugly it’s bitchin, and since very few were built in comparison to regular Larks, they had sleeper potential like none other.

Visit OnAllCylinders.com to vote for BangShift’s picks, and everyone else’s so we can get down to our final one and take it home for the win against PowerAutomedia, the Summit Fans, and OAC crew. Full instructions are below, but YOU MUST CLICK THIS LINK AND GO TO ONALLCYLINDERS.COM TO VOTE IN THEIR COMMENTS SECTION TOO. WE ARE GOING TO NEED YOUR SUPPORT GANG!

In the Bang Shift Region I’ll go with the 63 Lark and 71 Hornet. The Ford and Chevy will most likely get the most votes though.
In the On All Cylinders I’ll take the 68 Hemi Dart and the 70 Hemi Cuda
In the Summit the 65 Cobra and the 69 Charger

    Yeah … I’m gonna have some fun with this and vote fer all the weird and wonderful stuff .. just ta let my ‘ freak flag ‘ fly a bit today ;

    Studebaker
    Hornet
Hemi Dart [ back when the Dart WAS a Dart and not a rebadged FIAT ]
    Cyclone
    BOSS 429
69 Z/28 [ was wondering if anything GM’d make it not that there was a choice on this’n ]
    Cobra
    Charger R/T

Final winner ? The totally insane and almost impossible to handle … Dodge Hemi Dart … Damn that thing was looney tunes !

A level of automotive madness never to be seen again … in our time at least 😉

Watching the Studebakers at the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags it’s easy to see that the Studebaker Larks are giant killers. Five of the six entered won their shoot outs. But I drove all of those cars at one time or another and the beast of the bunch was a nicely tuned Hemi Dart. It was all you could handle and it demanded your respect or else. Made the 454 Chevelles and GTO’s and the Mustangs look like kids toys. To prove the point the Hemi Darts and Cudas have their own class in drag racing because no one wants to run against them. Especially now days when they consistently run in the low sevens and high sixes. And yet still class legal.

The 1968 Hemi Dart and Barracudas were not “production cars.” You couldn’t just walk into your local Dodge or Plymouth dealership and order one like you could have for all the other cars listed. Nor could you drive it on the street . . . as you could for all the other cars.

IMO – bad choice for this Shoot Out.

I would have liked to see a 1969 A12 440 Six Pack Road Runner or Super Bee on the list . . . instead of the 1968 Hemi Dart.

    And instead of the Hornet – a 1969 SC/Rambler.
