Legend At Work: Watch Bigfoot One Hammer Through A Mud Pit Back In 1988 – The Roar Of The Engine Rules

There’s a lot to love here. Firstly we have Bigfoot 1, the coolest truck ever built in the history of mankind. Then there is a long and gumbo filled mud-pit which looks like it has swallowed up loads of rigs over the course of a good day of fun. Then there is the 640ci blown and nitrous injected Alan Root Ford Hemi making some of the most glorious noise any engine has ever created, and finally there’s a neat interview with Bob Chandler at the end. Like we said, there’s lots to love.

Funny to think about but by 1988 Bigfoot 1 was already an elder statesman in the monster truck world. The rigs had been advancing quickly thought the years and the advent of the tube chassis trucks was right around the corner. The one thing that people loved about Bigfoot 1 then and love about it now? It is still a truck. It is not some weirdo fiberglass version of a lobster or a dog, it is a steel truck with a huge motor, all the power, and an attitude that will never be topped.

Enjoy this trip back to 1988. We sure did. That roaring engine, the flying mud, the humble guy with the black cowboy hat being interviewed at the end ? All fantastic in our book.
